How much money should I have saved up before moving to another state?

I am moving to Florida in 2 months. How much money should I have set aside after figuring in moving costs, as well as cost of moving into an apartment (such as rent and deposit)

  1. If you already have a job in the next state, I wouldnt worry about it as much. However, I would save up at least 1-2 months complete expenses including car payment, rent and bills and spending money for any unforseen circumstances. This is just because I would rather be safe than sorry.

  2. you will proabably need at least $2 to 3K saved, but I would be more worried about lining up the next job. If you don’t start looking of a job now, it will take you a month or 2 just to find a job when you get there. Typically rent will require your first months rent and security deposit (usually same amount as your rent)

  3. The other answer is right on the money … about 2 months worth of expenses …
