What is the best way to pack a moving truck for a long distance move?
To get best mileage? Heavy first? Light first? Any recommendations?
Thanks for your answers. Tried it before with selling everything and regretted it. Moving service is considered but also more expensive during the summer. Books mean a lot to a writer.

It won’t change the mileage, but pack heavy first then light. If the heavy stuff is in packed last then you could get in a reck and some have died. (This is NO joke! There was a whole segment on the news of the risks of packing a Uhaul truck wrong. And some people have been critically injured and died) Hope you have fun where ever you are moving to and this will hopfully help you to stay alive! =)
Heavy items first, against the wall closest to the cab. Keep them upright and balance them across the truck.
Long items next (mirrors, mattresses, etc.) against the long side of the truck.
Then boxes, heavy first, filling in spaces on top of and between the heavy appliances. Then lighter boxes on top of everything else.
Fragile items go in last.
And of course, wrap things securely in bubble wrap (use MUCH more than you think you need to–it’s not expensive) and blankets, and make sure everything is tied down securely.
Your mileage will not vary.
Add: Just thought of one more thing. Your last box or two should be things you’ll need immediately–toiletries, phone, coffee machine, etc.–so you can access them first.
Heavy first, Light last. BEST just 2 shed all that stuff & replace it L8r. it’s cheaper if U just leave everything behind. i’m eventually gonna move cross country & this is wut I’m gonna do, axe the excess.
